Just a reminder that this coming Sunday I will be at the Venice Whole Foods for an inCYST Fertility Friendly Food Tour. We'll be talking about basic concepts of eating to improve your fertiliity, and we will be roaming through the store discussing foods and supplements that can be part of your program.
If you want to attend and guarantee your space, please call Whole Foods and RSVP. 310.566.9480. I am not in charge of reservations, you need to call the store.
We had a lot of fun with this event in Scottsdale and I'm excited to be able to bring it to Southern California…
My friend Kate recently showed me the Whole Foods Market app on her iPhone. It has a lot of features which could really be helpful to someone who's overwhelmed with the thought of menu making and cooking.
Its recipe lists can be filtered based on special preferences such as gluten-free.
If you enter ingredients you already have in your kitchen, it will search for and display recipes using those recipes. Or, you can build your own list from scratch.
If you select a recipe, it will add needed ingredients to your shopping list.
It will work even if you're not shopping at Whole Foods, but if that's what you want to do, it will direct you to their nearest location.
Kate shared that it did the tedious work for her and made a task she used to hate, even a little fun.
This application can be downloaded at the iTunes store.
Yesterday I received a request for a holiday food idea from the Whole Foods blog. They accepted my entry--I wanted to share it here since we talked about this salad in class last week, and I told everyone I'd get them the recipe. You have to scroll down a bit, but you'll see my name. This is the salad that convinced me that I love beets!
If you have a healthy Christmas idea, send it to the Whole Food bloggers. Accepted entries will be put into a drawing for a $25 Whole Foods card. Not bad!
Yesterday, Bianca Hulsey of Whole Foods in Scottsdale sent me an email with the following excerpt:
I wanted to update you and Monica that after the foods for fertility class in Jan/Feb… We are pregnant! About 6mo with a growing boy!!! Thanks so much for the class!
I was elated, since this was our very first class!
Today, I heard from another woman who was with us that very same evening:
I am writing to tell you after following the diet you taught me since we met in the beginning of the year, and doing a few treatments of acupuncture for fertility I am PREGNANT! My husband and I did not start trying until May and it was in May that I got pregnant. Even better…I just found out that I am pregnant with twins!
This is a huge shock to me! I did not think it would happen so fast. Especially since I had just gone to a reproductive endocrinologist who confirmed I had PCOS and my periods never got regular but that didn't matter!
Thank you so much for teaching me the right way to eat! It changed my life!
If you're in Arizona or Southern California, and you'd like to learn more about our Whole Foods Classes, please keep checking back or join our Facebook inCYST group for updates. If you're not in either of these locations but would like to see such a class in your town, please let us know where you are. And…remember…we've got a team of trained providers who can give you individualized counseling. Please take advantage of our enthusiasm and interest in helping YOU, too!
This note would not be complete without a huge thank you to Bianca for making this class happen. Lives have changed because of your willingness to support inCYST, and we're grateful to have partnered with you in such a happy endeavor.
