Yesterday I wrote an article about Olympic weight lifter Sarah Robles and how she is advocating to manufacturers to produce more feminine exercise gear for plus-sized women.
I was very touched by the responses many readers posted at the bottom of the article. The article is circulating around the Internet, hopefully widely enough that someone at a garment company will see.
If you have tried to find exercise clothing and been frustrated, enough so that it has kept you from exercising as much as you'd like to, please take the time to share your experience. The more of you who speak out, the more potential these manufacturers will see in the investment of resources to create these clothes. It appears that they may be assuming that women of size do not exercise. Rather than become angry about that, what we need to do as a community is overwhelm them with feedback that this is not the case, and that there is money to be earned for servicing a community that is not being catered to.
